AG Applauds Landmark Law for New Mexico

(SANTA FE)---Attorney General Gary King today praised efforts to pass the Surface Owners Protection Act at the official bill-signing ceremony held by the Governor. The new law requires energy companies to provide New Mexico landowners with extensive information about pending oil and gas drilling; mandates compensation for land damage and usage and provides for reclamation of the land once oil and gas operations are completed.
