Media Advisory: Attorneys General, Federal Partners to Discuss Online Privacy, Data Sharing, and Prescription Drug Abuse During DC Conference

WHO: The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) will host its annual Winter-Spring meeting in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme is “Privacy in the Digital Age: Aligning Governmental and Citizen Interests,” which coincides with NAAG President and Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler’s yearlong presidential initiative focusing on online privacy.

WHAT: Forty-three state and territorial attorneys general, their staff, federal officials, and corporate and association representatives will convene to discuss pressing legal issues including online privacy, data sharing across governmental agencies, prescription drug abuse, and state-federal enforcement of consumer protection laws. There will also be an overview of this term’s U.S. Supreme Court cases with Walter Dellinger and Theodore Olson during the Supreme Court Perspectives Luncheon.

Special guest speakers include Vice President Joe Biden; U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder; Acting Associate Attorney General Tony West; Office of National Drug Control Policy Director R. Gil Kerlikowske; Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray; Thomas Curry, comptroller of the currency, U.S. Dept. of the Treasury, and Laurel Bellows, president, American Bar Association.


Monday, Feb. 25 through Wednesday, Feb. 27 at noon.
First session begins at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
