Attorneys General Make Donation for Disaster Relief in Japan
Washington, DC---The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Mission Foundation today made a $25,000 donation in the name of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) to the American Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan. The JBC in Washington, D.C. has rented office space for six years from the Mission Foundation.
“We wanted to convey our sympathy for the recent disaster and offer support for the ongoing needs of the Japanese people,” said Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell, who is chair of the Mission Foundation. The funds will help the Red Cross establish shelters and purchase food and basic necessities that thousands of survivors need.
The NAAG Mission Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides non-partisan research and analysis of legal issues for Attorneys General as directed by its Board of Directors, and assists in the NAAG membership’s responsibilities under the tobacco Master Settlement Agreement. Since its inception in 2002, the Foundation has also been active in supporting the programs and meetings conducted by NAAG and other charitable purposes.
