ICE Tool Kit for Prosecutors Available

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has recently issued a Tool Kit for state and local prosecutors that will help navigate situations where important witnesses, victims, or defendants may face removal because they are illegally present in the United States. In the foreword to the document, ICE notes its commitment to fostering and sustaining relationships with its external stakeholders, including federal and state prosecutors. The Tool Kit will not only assist state and local prosecutors in retaining witnesses and others in the country to aid in prosecution efforts; It also includes guidance for obtaining stipulated orders of removal, thereby eliminating the need for protracted immigration court proceedings.

The Tool Kit includes frequently asked questions and ICE contact information. It may be accessed from the NAAG website, http://www.naag.org/initiatives.php. NAAG appreciates the support and assistance that ICE continues to provide to state and local prosecutors.
