NAAG Sign-On Letters

p>Sign-On letters are policy-oriented letters sent to members of Congress, congressional committees or federal agencies expressing the viewpoint of the signatories. In order for a sign-on letter to be NAAG policy and appear on NAAG letterhead, it must have 36 or more Attorneys General signatures. Only NAAG letters that have completed the sign-on process are posted to the NAAG Web site. Below are the NAAG Sign-On letters issued to date in 2010 as of press time. • Guam Attorney General for U.S. Attorney General –NAAG sends an April 15 letter to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary in support of Guam Attorney General Alicia Limtiaco to serve as U.S. Attorney for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
• Mortgage Assistance Relief Services - Forty Attorneys General sign NAAG comments dated April 5 to the Federal Trade Commission in response to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for Mortgage Assistance Relief Services.
• State Alcohol Regulation – Thirty-nine Attorneys General sign a March 29 NAAG letter to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee over the states’ ability to regulate alcohol.
• Tobacco – PACT Act – NAAG sends letters in March to all congressional members urging them to pass the “Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act” (S.1147).
