NAAG to Host Annual Summer Meeting June 17-20 In Providence, Rhode Island

EVENT: National Association of Attorneys General 2008 Annual Summer Meeting

Forty (40) Attorneys General, their staffs, federal and foreign officials, private industry chief executive officers and executives, trade groups and academics will convene to discuss a number of issues, including technology and crimefighting, rising energy and fuel costs and the environment, law enforcement challenges to protecting children, international cross-border issues, the digital television transition, constitutional law, tobacco, federal legislation and other legal issues.

HIGHTLIGHTS: Attorneys General from the United States, Mexico and Canada will hold a panel on North American cross-border issues. Journalist Robert Bryce, author of “Gusher of Lies,” discusses the myths of energy independence. Other guests include: U.S. Department of Energy General Counsel David Hill; Federal Communications Commission Special Counsel Emmitt Carlton; Rick Cimerman, vice president for state government affairs of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association; national Baseball Hall of Fame member Cal Ripken; and a delegation of special prosecutors from Taiwan, Canada and Mexico.

In addition, NAAG will elect its new slate of officers for 2008-2009 and host its annual awards ceremony to recognize the work of those who contribute to the Offices of the Attorneys General, including its most prestigious honor, the Kelley-Wyman Award, bestowed upon an Attorney General who has done the most to achieve the Association’s objectives.
