National Association of Attorneys General
Consumer Protection Committee
The state and territorial attorneys general are a leading force in protecting the rights of consumers. They can be found at the forefront of protecting their citizens, making use of a wide variety of investigative and enforcement tools to prevent deceptive practices and fraud. Through civil and criminal litigation, mediation, public and business education, local and federal legislative initiatives and cooperative enforcement actions, the attorneys general play a key role in protecting the rights of their citizens.
The NAAG Consumer Protection Committee assists and enables the attorneys general by providing information, communication and support, facilitating cooperation and providing training and seminars to their staff for the exchange of ideas and information relevant to consumer protection. This allows the attorneys general to provide effective consumer protection programs and education for the protection of their citizens. Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson serve as 2017-2018 committee co-chairs.
