Media Advisory: Fighting Financial Fraud Summit in Charlotte

WHO:

National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) President and North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper will host the NAAG Presidential Initiative Summit. Sixteen state Attorneys General are scheduled to attend. Elizabeth Warren, Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will be a keynote speaker. Other confirmed Summit speakers include Bank of America President and CEO Brian Moynihan; Holly Petraeus, Office of Service Member Affairs for the CFPB; Commissioner Julie Brill of the Federal Trade Commission; and Thomas Hoenig, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

WHAT:

This two-day summit is the culminating event of the NAAG president’s year-long initiative, “America’s Financial Recovery: Protecting Consumers While We Rebuild.” The Summit will provide a forum for Attorneys General, the financial industry, academia, government, consumer advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to find ways to detect and prevent financial scams that sink consumers further into debt and hinder businesses’ growth. The agenda will also focus on new oversight for consumer products and services, and lessons to prevent future financial catastrophes.
