NAAG President's Press Statement on Milwaukee Summit
“Eighteen state and territorial attorneys general will gather today and tomorrow in Milwaukee for a conference titled, ‘America’s Promise: Keeping Our Kids Safe.’ As president of the National Association of Attorneys General, I chose this topic to highlight the important role of attorneys general and other public officials when it comes to protecting children.
“Child safety is, and has always been, one of my top priorities. This Summit is bringing together leaders and experts from around the country on topics such as current trends in drug abuse, school safety, protecting kids online, and working with child victims and witnesses. In addition, the meeting will highlight how businesses and non-profit organizations stand alongside law enforcement to protect and educate young people.
“Concern for child safety transcends political ideology, economic status, race and nationality. I am looking forward to seeing elected officials from different political parties, private sector leaders, academics, and law enforcement representatives all coming together to share information and ideas. The Summit will be a success if attorneys general return to their own states with a renewed commitment to child safety and additional tools to carry out that commitment.”
