Mike Salem

Michael J. Salem is an assistant attorney general for the State of Maryland, where he represents the Comptroller of the Treasury and the State in administrative, civil, criminal, and appellate litigation. In September 2008, Mike retired from a 30-year career as a trial lawyer and supervisor with the U.S. Department of Justice. With the DOJ, he tried tax and tax-related cases all over the country in federal and state courts. His experience includes jury and non-jury trials, and both prosecution and defense. He is a frequent lecturer and presenter on trial topics and taught trial practice for almost ten years at the DOJ’s National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina. Mike has a B.A. from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Georgetown University. He is licensed in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
