New Maine Attorney General to Start in January

The Maine legislature elected Democrat Janet Mills on Dec. 5 to serve as attorney general, with her two-year term beginning in January. She previously served one term as Maine attorney general in 2009-2010. Republican William Schneider was attorney general from 2011-2012. Maine is the only state to select its attorney general via secret ballot of its legislature.
