>> NAAG LETTER REQUESTS A RE-EXAMINATION OF THE OCC'S LEGAL POSITION OF PREEMPTION Fifty-one Attorneys General submitted a Feb. 25, 2009 letter to President Obama urging him to reconsider the United States? legal position regarding the Office of the Comptroller of Currency?s (OCC) current interpretation of its authority under the National Bank Act. The OCC seeks to bar State Attorneys General from enforcing consumer protection laws against federally chartered banks, regardless of whether those laws are substantively preempted. The United States Supreme Court agreed to review this issue in Andrew M. Cuomo, Attorney General of New York v. The Clearing House Association, L.L.C in April. February 25, 2009

>> FTC USED CAR RULE, JUNE 15, 2009 NAAG sends a June 15 comment letter signed by 42 Attorneys General to the Federal Trade Commission urging the agency to amend the Used Car Rule to require dealers to disclose vitally important used vehicle history information on vehicle Buyer's Guides.
