REGISTRATION DEADLINE
January 30, 2012

The course will be taught primarily by Attorney General Office-based, NAGTRI trained faculty members. As in all NAGTRI style trainings, the training will take trainees through witness preparation, direct and cross examination, handling of exhibits, impeachment of witnesses, opening and closing statements, and a mock trial. While the training will be based on a hypothetical criminal case, many of the issues involved in the training will be equally applicable to civil litigation.

Students will receive, in advance, full case materials to review and prepare for trial. There will be a minimal amount of lecture and demonstration by the trainers. The students will be involved immediately in an intensive hands-on setting. Training will be enhanced by the use of videotapes for one-on-one instruction. Critiques of students’ performance of an exercise will be both substantive and stylistic.

While the training will be based on a hypothetical criminal case, many of the issues involved in the training will be equally applicable to civil litigation. Course Prerequisites

While the case file and training would be valuable to attorneys of all experience levels, we would ask you first to consider as nominees those in your office with little or no courtroom experience. We are asking each state to nominate one assistant attorney general to attend. Please note that offices are not guaranteed a slot; merely, offices may submit a nomination.

Fee Requirements

There is Mission Foundation scholarship assistance available for each student.
