Updated Media Advisory: AG Summit on Online Privacy

WHO: National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) President and Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler will host the NAAG Presidential Initiative Summit on “Privacy in the Digital Age.” Twenty-three state and territorial attorneys general are scheduled to attend. Confirmed Summit speakers include Matt Olsen, director, National Counterterrorism Center; Commissioner Julie Brill, Federal Trade Commission; Bill Nelson, president and chief executive officer, Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center; Harvey Anderson, general counsel, Mozilla; Brad Smith, executive vice president and general counsel, Microsoft; Bill Dennings, chief information security officer, MasterCard Worldwide, and Erin Egan, chief privacy officer, policy, Facebook.

WHAT: The Summit will provide a forum for attorneys general, the information technology industry, academia, government, corporations, associations, and other stakeholders to explore strategies that protect consumers and businesses from privacy risks as they use the Internet and other technologies. Topics to be discussed include cybersecurity, data collection, state and federal responses to digital privacy, kids as users of social media and mobile phones, protecting intellectual property, market solutions, and exploring the relationship between competition and Internet privacy.
