Pirates, Thieves, and Trolls

Following four years of intellectual property (IP) theft trainings by NAGTRI to state and local police and prosecutors, NAAG is noticing an increase of awareness, arrests, and prosecutions for IP theft at the state level, as well as the passage of state laws that have increased penalties and addressed specific safety issues.

Smartphones: Shrinking Prices and Rising Thefts

Last year 3.1 million smartphones were stolen in the United States. Attorneys general called for a technological solution to the thefts and some state and federal legislation was also introduced. Now an anti-theft tool will be in place July 2015.

NAGTRI International Fellows Rule of Law

A group of attorneys from four countries writes about the role international organizations can play in promoting the rule of law. It is the first article in a series on the rule of law from the NAGTRI International Fellows program.

Mazurek Building Dedication

The Montana Attorney Generalís Office held a ceremony in Helena to recognize the dedication of their Justice Building and Memorial Gardens to former Montana Attorney General Joseph P. Mazurek, who passed away in 2012. The building stands as a tribute to a man who was praised by all for his devotion to public service.

Student Loan Relief Available for Veterans

The Veteransí Student Loan Relief Fund provides grants of up to $5,000 to qualified military veterans, service members, and families who believe for-profit educational institutions have deceived them. Through Sept. 15, the Fund is accepting applications for an additional round of grants this year.
