Overview

This course provides a situational and operational update as to how state court operations are changing during the COVID-19 crisis. Topics include how the coronavirus crisis has impacted courts’ ability to conduct jury trials, both civil and criminal; what restrictions are being placed on in-person proceedings; how courts deal with a shortage of judges and staff; what teleconferencing/video-conferencing is being mandated, permitted, or encouraged; and what restrictions are being imposed at state or local levels. This course provides an overview of what courts are doing to continue their essential functions.
