The Attorney General’s Office is looking for an Assistant Attorney General to work in the Insurance & Financial Services Division, which provides consumer assistance and enforces laws regarding insurance, investment, and lending issues, including a focus on post-secondary education, debt, and loan servicing.

Position Type:  Full-Time/Exempt

Salary:  $78,586 to $117,879, commensurate with JD year and experience

Responsibilities

Primary Duties:  Investigate/litigate consumer protection matters with a focus on securities, lending and investment matters, and implement related settlements.  The position also involves assisting with policy development, outreach, and related mediations.

Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school, MA bar admission required.  Applicants with an excellent work ethic and an interest in economic and social justice are encouraged to apply.  Applicants must be highly motivated, intellectually curious, and able to quickly learn new and complicated subject areas.  Attentiveness to detail is a must.  Familiarity with securities practice, including private funds, registered investment companies, and public offerings preferred.  Experience with government financial services investigations, as well as debt collection practices regarding various consumer loan products, is helpful.  Applicants should have familiarity with civil hearing and motion practice and be adept at legal research.  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.  Applicants must be comfortable working autonomously, but also as part of a team.  We seek an individual who is highly motivated to work in the public interest.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
