About Tobacco Section
Under general supervision, primarily provides legal advice and representation relating to tobacco and civil litigation. Provides legal advice to the State, state agencies, and officials.
- Provides legal advice, counsel, and services to the State and, as directed, to State agencies, public officials, and political subdivisions of the State (collectively the “State”)
- Represents the State and its interests in contested matters, including appearing in all courts at all levels.
- Work on other projects and assist with related duties assigned by the DAG and /or CDAG.
- Diligently represents the State in enforcing the Tobacco Escrow Fund Act and related legislation.

Responsibilities
Juris Doctorate Degree and at least five years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Necessary Requirement: Must be a member and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Must satisfy Rule 403 requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Some overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge and ability to interpret the laws of South Carolina.
- Employees must have a basic understanding of EXCEL and Microsoft 365 and some courtroom experience.
