General Counsel Division, Business Activities Section
The Oregon Department of Justice is seeking applicants for an attorney position in the Business Activities Section of the General Counsel Division. This position is Salem-based, with opportunities for some remote work. The Business Activities Section offers a diverse and stimulating practice, working directly with over 50 regulatory boards, commissions, and agencies to support their missions of public protection and to help ensure that their regulatory services and business operations are conducted in a sound manner. The Section’s clients include the Public Utility Commission, most of the Divisions of the Department of Consumer and Business Services (Oregon OSHA, Building Codes Division (BCD), Division of Financial Regulation (DFR), and Workers Compensation Division), most health professional regulatory boards, and many non-health professional licensing boards and agencies.
The person selected for this position will be assigned as part of the legal team that works as staff counsel to the Public Utility Commission of Oregon (PUC). The Section Team provides legal advice and assistance to the PUC and is led by an Assistant Attorney-In-Charge (AAIC) who is Commission counsel and oversees all work of with the PUC.
