The Florida Solicitor General’s Office, located in Tallahassee, Florida, is considering applications for the positions of Assistant Solicitor General.
Responsibilities
The Office of the Solicitor General represents the State of Florida in the Supreme Court of the United States and the Florida Supreme Court, litigates cases of exceptional public importance in federal and state appellate and trial courts, supervises appellate litigation in cases to which the State is a party, provides legal advice and policy guidance to the Attorney General, and coordinates the State’s amicus practice as well as its involvement in multistate litigation. Assistant and Deputy SGs assist the Solicitor General with all aspects of the work of the Office and argue cases in the Florida Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit, and the Florida District Courts of Appeal.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Assistant Solicitor General positions should have excellent written and oral advocacy skills and outstanding academic credentials. Applicants for this position should have at least two years of legal experience. As of July 1, 2022, Assistant Solicitors General start at an annual salary of $125,000. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
