The Attorney General’s Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau seeks a full-time law enforcement investigator for its newly created Data Privacy Unit. New Hampshire is poised on the leading edge of states enacting comprehensive consumer data privacy
laws. The successful candidate will enjoy a unique opportunity to join the team
implementing and enforcing New Hampshire’s first comprehensive Data Privacy Act
(RSA 507-H), which took effect January 1, 2025.
The new Data Privacy Act creates rights for New Hampshire consumers and imposes
obligations on certain persons and entities controlling or processing personal data. The Attorney General, acting through the Data Privacy Unit, has exclusive authority to
enforce violations of the Data Privacy Act. The Data Privacy Unit investigator will
have an important role in the investigation of alleged violations and enforcement of the Act.
The successful candidate will demonstrate keen interest in the data privacy field and
eagerness to learn about new and evolving concepts and technologies that impact
consumer privacy rights. Prior experience in this emerging field is not required, but
genuine interest in the subject matter is. Applicants must be certified as New
Hampshire law enforcement officers–or eligible to obtain certification–and have
proficiency with current investigative techniques, witness interviews, subpoenas,
evidence collection, digital evidence, and report writing. Applicants should be highly
motivated, organized, and capable of handling a diverse caseload in a fast-paced
environment.
Interested candidates should send their cover letter and CV to Sean P. Gill, Chief of
