Title: Deputy General Counsel
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position Summary:
The Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General currently seeks a licensed attorney to work with the General Counsel team. The General Counsel team advises the Attorney General and staff on policy and legal matters and is responsible for overseeing the Attorney General Opinion process; the office’s Open Records Act request process; administrative rulemaking; ballot title review; antitrust and anticompetitive review of qualifying board licensure actions; and opioid abatement, response, and grants.
The attorney accepting this position must maintain the integrity of the Attorney General’s Office, as well as the confidentiality of information as required by the Oklahoma Attorney General. In-state travel, including some over-night travel, is expected.
Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Research legal questions and provide timely advice, guidance, or analysis;
- Research, write, and edit, Attorney General Opinions;
- Review and/or draft contracts, procurement documents, agreements, and other written agency materials;
- Opine on the Open Meeting and Open Records Acts;
- Advise and ensure compliance on opioid settlement matters, including grant management and compliance;
- Advise the Opioid Overdose Fatality Review Board and the Opioid Abatement Board; and
- Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be, or be eligible to become, licensed to practice law in the State of Oklahoma with at least three (3) years of experience in the practice of law. The ideal candidate will: display good judgment; be detail-oriented; possess strong oral and written communication skills; and demonstrate solid, efficient research and writing skills. He or she will also be a self-starter and independent while also being able to collaborate and work with others. Governmental and administrative law practice experience is strongly preferred.
