The Idaho Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) invites talented recent law school graduates to apply for the OSG David H. Leroy Fellowship. This Fellowship offers one new lawyer the opportunity to work closely with the Solicitor General and his team on high-profile and significant legal issues. The Fellowship will be a one-year term running from September to August each year. This is a paid fellowship. We are seeking candidates for 2025-2026.
Responsibilities
The OSG serves as the State’s premier litigation team. It is tasked with ensuring that exceptional work product marks the work of the Attorney General’s Office. It also provides strategic litigation advice to all divisions within the Attorney General’s Office and oversees the appellate work, including preparing briefs and petitions and arguing select appeals in state and federal courts. The Fellow will participate firsthand in all of the OSG’s operations and will work directly with the Solicitor General and his team.
Qualifications
The OSG is looking for principled, creative, and hardworking applicants. Applicants must be recent law school graduates with a strong academic record and writing ability. Judicial clerkship experience is preferred but not required. And applicants with a demonstrated interest in state and federal constitutional law and statutory interpretation will be favored. Admission to practice law in Idaho is not a prerequisite for application.

- official law school transcript;
- three letters of recommendation (at least one must be from a law school professor and, if you clerked, one must be from your judge); and
- writing sample of 20 pages or fewer representing your work product alone.
