Responsibilities

The Human Services section is recruiting for two attorneys to serve as a full-time Assistant Attorneys General. This section provides aid to agency advice and representation for all divisions within the Department of Health and the Department of Family and Community Services. The section represents a unique opportunity to serve two of the largest departments who impact the daily lives of all Alaskans at some point in their lives, be that a birth certificates, to medical care, to long term care in the Pioneer Homes. Membership in the Human Services Section provides attorneys with the opportunity to develop diverse legal skills as they assist clients through advice, civil litigation, alternative dispute resolution, administrative litigation, regulatory law, and legislative work. The successful applicant will enjoy a varied caseload that will balance of agency advice, administrative hearings, and litigation.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have excellent communication, oral advocacy, writing, negotiation, and time management skills, and must possess an eye for detail and good judgment. The ability to handle a high volume of cases in a fast-paced work environment is essential.
