Tamara Schlinger

Tamara is the NAAG Center for Tobacco and Public Health staff counsel. In this role, she provides commercial litigation and arbitration expertise to the Settling States in their work to enforce the Master Settlement Agreement (MSA), is involved with matters related to the MSA’s public health provisions, and works with the Settling States on various tobacco matters.

Prior to joining NAAG in November 2010, Tamara served as the general counsel and special assistant for public policy at a non-profit organization based in New York City that focused on developing effective solutions to address substance addiction and reduce risks associated with substance use. She previously worked in private practice at a large law firm in New York City specializing in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts. In that capacity, she worked on matters that went to arbitration and cases that were subject to jury trials. She also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Frederick J. Scullin, Jr. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.

Tamara received her JD degree, magna cum laude, from the Syracuse University College of Law, a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of North Dakota. She is a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bars.
