Attorneys General to Convene in Atlanta, Ga., to Discuss Federalism


The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Southern Region is holding a one-and-a-half-day meeting in Atlanta, Ga., on Federalism, how our nation divides power between the states and federal government. Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens will host. Attorney General Olens serves as chair of the NAAG Southern Region, which is comprised of 13 states.*


Topics to be addressed include “State Sovereignty in a Time of Overlapping Federal and State Power,” “Federalism and Immigration,” and “When States Can Sue and Be Sued”.

Keynote speakers: Judge William H. Pryor, Jr., United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and Ernest A. Young, Alston & Bird Professor of Law, Duke University School of Law. Three law school deans will also participate: Robert Schapiro, Emory University School of Law; Marc Miller, The University of Arizona James E. Roger College of Law; and Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge, University of Georgia School of Law.

Panelists include Jonathan Adler, director, Center for Business Law and Regulation, Case Western Reserve University School of Law and Pamela Karlan, professor of public interest law, Stanford University School of Law.
