AGs Urge CDC to Adopt Guideline for Prescribing Opioids
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) should promptly adopt the proposed guideline for prescribing opioids for chronic pain. States have experienced a surge in opioid abuse, addiction, overdoses and deaths. In a Jan. 14, 2016 letter signed by 36 attorneys general, NAAG states that the guideline will provide much-needed direction to doctors and will help safely manage patients on opioids for extreme pain.
