Prosecutorial Strategies to Fight Cybercrime in the Era of Social Media

The NAGTRI International Fellows Program will take place from June 7-16, 2019. This is an eight-day (not including travel days) scholarship program, provided free of cost to selected participants. All travel, lodging, and per diem will be funded through generous grants from the NAAG Mission Foundation and other funding sources. If you or anyone in your office has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Molly Flanagan at mflanagan@naag.org or Zoe Reinstein at zreinstein@naag.org.

Each year, the NAGTRI International Fellows Program provides a forum for elite government attorneys from around the world to learn from each other, explore common issues, and establish an international network for the mutual benefit of their respective offices. Approximately 18-25 participants will be chosen for the 2019 program, which will include a combination of government leaders from the United States and abroad. Past programs have included participants from Afghanistan, Armenia, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Hungary, Iraq, Israel, Jamaica, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Malawi, Mali, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and United States, among others.

This is a challenging and demanding program, requiring full engagement in the materials and lectures, and participating fully in a group research and writing project. Selected participants will present their research findings before a prestigious panel in New York City. The 2019 program theme will be “Prosecutorial Strategies to Fight Cybercrime in the Era of Social Media.” More information on the topic and program agenda are forthcoming. Fellows will work in groups to produce articles on this theme, which will be published in a NAGTRI publication.

Fellows will also be given the opportunity to meet with senior officials from the federal law enforcement and judicial community in Washington, D.C., as well as state law enforcement officials from the area. Additionally, Fellows will participate in a host of cultural activities in Washington, D.C., and New York, N.Y.

The ideal candidates are international prosecutors and assistant attorneys general who have demonstrated a commitment to public service, have a connection with cybercrime matters in the course of their professional duties, and are among an office’s highest quality performers.

The application for 2019 non-U.S. International Fellows is closed.
