The National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute
This intensive, three-day legal writing training is a unique opportunity for new to midlevel attorneys to hone their writing skills in a “learn-by-doing” format. Participants will be asked to write a trial brief prior to attending the training. During the training, participants will attend presentations on effective writing strategy and techniques, participate in additional writing and editing exercises, and have faculty members provide constructive feedback of their work. The training also features a presentation on editing and critiquing colleagues’ writings. The training will teach you to:
Author persuasive and technically sound motions, briefs, and memoranda by: Effectively structuring your writings; Crafting a clear and compelling introduction; Constructing paragraphs that flow together; and Effectively marshaling authorities.
Edit your and your colleagues’ writings to improve clarity, technique, and impact.
Provide constructive feedback to your colleagues that empowers them to write more effectively.
