The National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute
This intensive, two-day National Negotiation Skills Training consists of presentations on various aspects of negotiation, as well as four workshops where participants engage in negotiations in different scenarios. Participants will work in teams of two or four and will negotiate with other teams of participants. This training will teach participants to:
- Prepare for negotiations by assessing the client’s interests, options, outcomes and alternatives.
- Negotiate effectively and productively by understanding the opposition’s interests, and by leveraging different negotiating styles.
- Gain insight and information during the negotiation process, regardless of whether a negotiated resolution is reached.
- Adhere to ethical obligations and principles of professionalism and civility in negotiations as counsel for the state and ambassador for your attorney general’s office.
