Trial Advocacy Training

Zoe Reinstein

NAGTRI Program Specialist
(202) 326-6037 | zreinstein@naag.org

This intensive, four-day training consists of presentations on various aspects of trial practice, "learn-by-doing" workshops, and a final mock trial. In the workshops, you will perform various components of a hearing, and faculty will provide constructive critiques. Certain workshops will be video recorded, where you will have a one-on-one review of your performance with a faculty member. At the final mock trial, you will be paired in teams. The training will teach you to:

  • Develop your case globally, guided by a clear case theory.
  • Develop and deliver an effective and persuasive opening statement and closing argument.
  • Effectively present and cross-examine witnesses in support of your case theory.
  • Effectively use objections and exhibits at trial.
  • Adhere to ethical obligations and principles of professionalism and civility as a counsel for the state and ambassador for your attorney general's office.

Nominations deadline: September 13, 2019
