National Instant Criminal Background Check System Overview

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is a national system that checks available records on persons who may be disqualified from receiving firearms. The webinar will provide an introduction to the ten federal prohibitions that are used to determine a person’s eligibility to possess a firearm and how the prohibitions are applied. In addition, information will be provided regarding the databases searched by the NICS, the process to obtain additional information necessary to determine if a prohibition exists, and a few key statistics.
