The Coronavirus Outbreak: Preparing an Effective State Response

The National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute’s (NAGTRI) Center for International Partnerships and Strategic Collaboration (CIPS-C) and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) are pleased to present a webinar discussing ways to coordinate efforts and prepare an effective response amid the recent global coronavirus outbreak. This respiratory illness outbreak has been caused by a new coronavirus detected first in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Cases have affected people throughout the globe beyond Wuhan. Accordingly, health officials and government agencies are extending efforts to proactively monitor the outbreak and determine necessary next steps at the local, state, and national level. This webinar is being offered to the state attorney general community as it prepares a response considering an increasing number of cases globally and the importance of coordinating with the CDC.
This webinar is geared towards those who work on health-related legal issues, policy, guidelines, and regulatory and actual practices. Specifically, the targeted audience includes attorneys general, staff within attorney general offices, state departments of health agency regulators and officials, victim service advocates, government affairs personnel, and law enforcement officials.
The webinar will discuss:
- What the coronavirus is
- The current state of affairs
- How it is spread, prevention, and symptoms
- What states should anticipate and how to respond without immediate panic
- What assistance is available
- Which first steps are necessary
No CLE will be provided for this webinar. However, upon individual request, a Uniform Certificate of Attendance may be provided only to those who fully participate. Information will be provided during the webinar regarding receipt of a certificate. Please note that a survey will be sent after the webinar to collect attendance information. It is very important to complete this survey in order to receive a certificate and request credit on your own behalf.
