The National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute
Alternative Dispute Resolution for the Government Attorney
Moderator: Rich Bramer, NAGTRI Program Counsel, National Association of Attorneys General
Mike Cody, Attorney, Burch, Porter and Johnson, PLLC, former Tennessee Attorney General
Demetrice Davis, Manager, Dispute Resolution Unit, Office of the Virginia Attorney General
Suzanne Schwartz, Center for the Public Policy Dispute Resolution, the University of Texas School of Law
This webinar will explore the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) by state government attorneys in pending litigation, consumer claims, high volume claims, and cases that require settlement sooner rather than later. The use of ADR helps clear caseloads, avoid unnecessary time and expense, serves the interest of all parties, and is welcomed (in some cases, required) by courts. The panel will offer multiple perspectives regarding the use of ADR by attorneys general staff. Emphasis will be placed on competencies that can be utilized for success.
A Uniform Certificate of Attendance will be provided after the webinar. However, NAGTRI will only be applying for CLE credits for Assistant Attorneys General. Information will be provided during the webinar regarding credit and attendance certification. Please note that a survey will be sent after the webinar to collect CLE information. It is very important that this be completed in order to request credit.
NOTE: The webinar recording, PowerPoint, and any additional materials will be uploaded to this page within 48 hours after the webinar.
This free webinar took place on November 7, 2017 at 2pm EDT.
