Faculty, Center for Consumer Protection

Jay Simonson supervises the Consumer Fraud Unit for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office where he has worked for the past twenty years. Prior to that, Jay worked for New Mexico’s largest and oldest private law firm specializing in civil litigation. As a Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force, Jay served as a prosecutor before being selected as a Circuit Criminal Defense Counsel to supervise other trial attorneys. He continues to serve with the Air Force Reserve in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is assigned to the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour-Johnson Air Force Base, in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Jay has tried over fifty cases before judges and juries and serves on the faculty for the National Association of Attorney General’s Complex Litigation Training. Jay is a graduate of Colorado State University and of the University of Colorado Law School. His wife Gina is the Staff Judge Advocate for the Buckley Air National Guard Unit. They have two children, one biological and one adopted, who are both 16 years old.
