About the Authors

Brian Kane is the assistant chief deputy attorney general of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Brian serves as legal counsel to the secretary of state, the Legislature, and other elected officials; he acts as a liaison between the attorney general and local, state and federal governments; and, he handles all amicus requests. He has argued before the Idaho Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He serves as a faculty member for the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (NAGTRI), and conducts continuing legal education training on diverse topics throughout the country.

Emily Myers is NAAG antitrust and powers and duties chief counsel as well as NAGTRI chief editor. She has been with NAAG since 1993. She is the editor of NAAG’s book, State Attorneys General Powers and Responsibilities (4th edition available 2019). Emily is also the author of chapters on state antitrust enforcement in American Bar Association and state bar publications. As antitrust counsel, she assists states in their multistate activities and maintains the NAAG Multistate Litigation Database, a comprehensive database of state antitrust cases since 1990.
