A Decade of International Fellows

In the last decade we have hosted hundreds of Fellows from over 60 countries. What a monumental feat to accomplish this, thanks to the NAGTRI team who works tirelessly every year to make the program a success for Fellows. NAGTRI has focused on a particular theme each year and prepared group papers as guidance on how best to tackle challenging global problems. See below for a summary of our programs since 2011, along with the countries that have been represented over the years. All Fellows’ papers are available here.

2019: The 2019 International Fellows Program was entitled “Prosecutorial Strategies to Fight Cybercrime in the Era of Social Media,” and the class consisted of 20 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring how social media has impacted cybercrime and disrupted personal privacy resulting often in devastating losses for consumers and especially vulnerable communities and the elderly.

2018: The 2018 International Fellows Program was entitled “Prosecutorial Strategies to Protect Consumers Against Deceptive and Fraudulent Products and Practices,” and the class consisted of 22 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring how best to empower prosecutors to serve as leaders in protecting consumers against sophisticated tech scams and preventing dangerous products from reaching the public marketplace.

2017: The 2017 International Fellows Program was entitled “Prosecutorial Strategies and Tools to Combat the Illegal Trade of Persons and Goods,” and the program consisted of 24 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring ways in which prosecutors could assist with lessening the detrimental effects of the illegal trade of persons and goods.

2016: The 2016 International Fellows Program was entitled “The Prosecutor’s Role in Fighting Corruption and Promoting Public Integrity,” and the program consisted of 25 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring ways in which prosecutors could assist with lessening the detrimental effects of corruption and financial crimes.

2015: The 2015 International Fellows Program was entitled “Prosecutor as Problem Solver: Innovative Prosecutorial and Crime Fighting Strategies,” and the program consisted of 23 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring ways in which prosecutors could think outside the box to creatively reduce crime.

2014: The 2014 International Fellows Program was entitled “Rule of Law,” and the program consisted of 18 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring rule of law concepts and global issues.

2013: The 2013 International Fellows Program was entitled “Cybersecurity,” and the program consisted of 21 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring the extent to which cybersecurity is a major transnational crime affecting the world.

2012: The 2012 International Fellows Program was entitled “Corruption,” and the program consisted 22 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to exploring myriad aspects and levels of corruption.

2011: The 2011 International Fellows Program was entitled “Human Trafficking,” and the program consisted of 18 Fellows. The class dedicated its time to learning about and exploring the fundamentals of human trafficking and how it has changed the face of transnational crime and the methods being used to combat it.
