A bipartisan coalition of 49 state and territory attorneys general urged the FCC to strengthen safeguards that prevent scammers from obtaining and using legitimate phone numbers for illegal robocalls and text scams. The coalition called for stronger oversight of phone number providers, greater reporting and accountability, restrictions on number cycling, and other measures to help law enforcement trace and stop illegal robocall operations.
