This CLE course will explore the rapidly evolving landscape of wearable technology and its implications for the legal profession. Participants will gain insights into the current capabilities of devices such as smart glasses and body-worn sensors, as well as the regulatory challenges they present in areas such as consumer protection, privacy enforcement, and criminal justice. The course will also delve into the legal frameworks that govern the use of these technologies, including wiretap laws and biometric privacy statutes, and how they may adapt to address the unique challenges posed by continuous data collection. Finally, the course will examine the practical impact of wearable technology on courtroom procedures, including evidentiary issues and the integrity of trials, equipping legal professionals with the knowledge to navigate this complex and evolving field.
