Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join her team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General’s Trial Division.
Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt — Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.
Salary: $78,586 to $117,879, as determined by JD year

Responsibilities
Represent and defend the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its agencies, and employees in a wide variety of civil lawsuits, including tort, contract, erroneous convictions, eminent domain, employment, and civil rights cases. Maintain an active caseload, including assuming responsibility for drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, and trying cases in the superior and federal courts.
Qualifications
At least five years’ experience handling all aspects of civil litigation is preferred. Persuasive oral and written communication skills are also preferred. Exposure to managing a large and varied caseload would be valuable. Prior legal experience in at least one of the following substantive areas is preferred: tort, contracts, land use, eminent domain, civil rights, or employment litigation. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment and a connection to the people and communities we serve. Must have access to reliable transportation or have a valid driver’s license, as travel may be required to various courts, client, and opposing party locations and law offices. (Vehicle not required – pool cars available for work use.) Individual must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
