Case Description
The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office entered into two assurances of discontinuance to resolve allegations that the companies colluded to allocate contracts and made false statements regarding school bus contracts for the transportation of special education students in three Massachusetts cities and towns. The assurances require Beacon and J.S.C. Transportation Services to maintain antitrust compliance programs for at least five years; notify the attorney general’s office of any acquisitions of transportation companies for a period of time; cooperate with the attorney general’s office in future investigations; and notify the attorney general’s office of any efforts by a competitor to enter into anticompetitive agreements relating to student transportation contracts in Massachusetts.
In addition to the behavioral terms of the assurances of discontinuance, Beacon agreed to make a monetary payment of $2.4 million and J.S.C. agreed to make a monetary payment of $440,000.
