A bi-partisan coalition of 45 state attorneys general sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) seeking to safeguard consumers from scam phone calls made by Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) service providers. The attorneys general submitted comments to the FCC on its proposal “to safeguard and secure the open Internet” (NPRM) asking it to clarify that the proposal would not impact its treatment of VoIP providers that could result in their ability to use the Internet to evade the law and spam people with scam calls.
