Washington, D.C. — Allison Gilmore has been selected as the new chief communications officer (CCO) for the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG).
As CCO, Gilmore will oversee communications staff, lead external and internal relations and provide strategic communications support to member offices. She will be responsible for increasing the visibility of the attorney general community to the public and furthering NAAG’s goals of being a national voice and serving as a national thought leader.
“NAAG’s 2019 strategic plan envisions a greatly enhanced role for internal and external communications,” said NAAG Executive Director Chris Toth. “We are excited to bring Allison on board to spearhead this effort.”
Gilmore has 20 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations and campaign development for associations, nonprofits and public sector organizations. For the last nine years, she has served as the vice president of communications and strategic initiatives for the Northern Virginia Technology Council, a technology trade association. Previously, she worked for the National Women’s Business Council, where she directed communications and research analysis.
Gilmore has a Masters of Public Administration from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree from Rice University. She received her Certified Association Executive Certification from the American Society for Association Executives.
