The Criminal Justice Division

The Criminal Justice Division of the Oregon Department of Justice conducts specialized local, state, and federal criminal investigations and prosecutions and provides highly trained and experienced special agents, prosecutors, and analysts to fight crime across Oregon; the Division is the only agency in Oregon that has the unique ability to combine the skills of all three disciplines in a single agency to comprehensively address crime in our communities. The Division also provides outreach and training to citizens, victim service providers, and members of the law enforcement community to help ensure that Oregonians receive the highest level of service from the criminal justice system.

We are seeking applications from current or previous prosecutors for the position of Assistant Attorney General in the Organized Crime Section of the Attorney General’s Criminal Justice Division. This position may be based in Salem, Portland, or Eugene and will require periodic travel throughout the state. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule of working in the office and remotely.

The attorney selected for this position will be responsible for duties to include: working with CJD special agents, local law enforcement agencies, and District Attorney offices to investigate and prosecute complex financial crimes and organized criminal enterprises; as needed, prosecuting other criminal activity, including homicide and other persons crimes, officer use of force cases, public corruption, and election law violations; evaluating and pursuing criminal cases, including conflict and specialty cases, at the request of district attorneys throughout the state; providing advice and support to district attorneys and their deputies; and presenting at trainings across the state.

The attorney selected must be able to work closely with people from a variety of disciplines including state agencies, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors from different offices. The person must have demonstrated excellent organizational, trial, and writing skills, and must be willing to travel extensively.
