Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Section Chief and Assistant Attorneys General within the Affirmative Civil Enforcement Practice Group-Newark, the Assistant Section Chief will oversee Section data privacy, cyber security, and technology accountability investigations and litigations on behalf of the Division and the State of New Jersey; provide counsel and representation regarding Data Privacy & Cybersecurity matters; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned Deputy Attorneys General; conduct case file reviews; and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New Jersey required.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
PREFERENCE: Preference will be given to candidates who have applicable experience and understanding of relevant state and federal laws and regulations, including the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, Identity Theft Protection Act, and Data Privacy Act, and the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act as amended by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, the Stored Communications Act, and Communications Decency Act. Preference will also be given to candidates with at least five (5) years of legal research, writing, and litigation experience. Preference will also be given to candidates with cybersecurity/privacy certifications and/or demonstrated technical knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity.
