Michael Madeira is the Chief Deputy Attorney General of the Drug Strike Force Section for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Michael has more than 35 years of legal experience, including nearly three decades as a prosecutor in Pennsylvania. A graduate of Villanova University School of Law (1989), he began his career in 1990 as an Assistant District Attorney, later joining the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office in 1993 as a drug prosecutor. Over 13 years, he led investigations and prosecutions that secured convictions of mid- and upper-level drug traffickers across central Pennsylvania.

Elected District Attorney in 2005, Michael prosecuted a wide range of serious crimes—including narcotics, sexual assaults, and homicides—securing convictions for both first- and third-degree murder. In 2010, he returned to private practice and also served as immigration counsel for Penn State University’s Office of Global Programs, advising international faculty and scholars.

In 2018, he rejoined the Attorney General’s Office as a Senior Deputy Attorney General. In 2025, he was appointed Chief Deputy Attorney General of the Drug Strike Force Section, where he leads a team of 16 Deputy Attorneys General and advises over 125 agents with the Bureau of Narcotics Investigation. He has extensive trial experience and is a recognized expert in Pennsylvania’s Statewide Investigating Grand Jury process and the Wiretap Act.

Michael is a longtime instructor with the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute and a trainer for the Commonwealth Investigator Training Program. He lives in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Lisa, and is the proud father of four children.
