Washington, D.C. — The National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (NAGTRI), a branch of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), has selected four summer law clerks who will have substantive opportunities to research and learn about emerging public law issues. The clerkship runs from May through July.
The clerks are Isabel Agnew, Shannon Gough, Jomi Ogunfiditimi and Benjamin Waldron. Their work assignments will include conducting legal research, drafting legal memoranda, drafting articles regarding legal developments of interest to the attorneys general community, and engaging in program administration and development.
“Isabel, Shannon, Jomi, and Benjamin have impressive skill sets and they will be instrumental in supporting NAGTRI staff,” said Amy Tenney Curren, director of NAGTRI. “We look forward to working with the law clerks and are excited to see their contributions.”
Agnew will work closely with the NAGTRI Center for Consumer Protection and NAGTRI’s antitrust counsel as a Steiger Fellow funded by the American Bar Association’s Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Project. She is a law student at the George Washington University Law School where she is a legal research and writing fellow, and has interned at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Gough most recently was a law clerk with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. Her other experience includes working with the Department of Justice, the National Labor Relations Board and International Rights Advocates. She is a J.D. candidate at American University Washington College of Law.
Ogunfiditimi is enrolled at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where he serves as vice president of the Black Law Student Association and as senator for the Student Bar Association. He has clerked for the Michigan Supreme Court Friend of the Court Bureau and the 16th Judicial Circuit Court.
Waldron has worked as a meta-analytical researcher with the College of William and Mary, where he earned his B.S. degree. He is attending Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law and is the law school’s selected William J. Brown fellow, named after Ohio’s 42nd attorney general, who served from 1971 to 1983.
In addition to placing public interest fellows, NAAG hires student law clerks for compensation or credit during each semester and the summer. Interested students are encouraged to apply early for this competitive program.
