The Attorney General’s Antitrust Law Section ensures an open and competitive marketplace for California, and fosters a healthy business climate through the enforcement of state antitrust laws, both civilly and criminally, and federal antitrust laws civilly, through business merger/acquisition reviews, investigations of potential violations of the law and litigation. The Section investigates and brings cases independently as well as with federal and state counterparts, in both state and federal courts. This position will have a significant focus on criminal antitrust and experience in criminal antitrust is required.
The Deputy Attorney General Supervisor directs and monitors the work of a team of Deputy Attorneys General and paralegals; evaluates the performance of Deputy Attorneys General and paralegals; provides training to these attorneys and paralegals; handles general administrative matters; participates in the hiring of Deputy Attorneys General and paralegals; and supervises one or more attorneys or acts as the lead attorney on the most difficult and complex legal work related to sensitive investigations, jury trials, bench trials, writs, and appeals, which requires the highest level of independent judgment. The SDAG may also coordinate and facilitate communications with other state Attorney General’s Offices and other federal and state government agencies working on similar issues.
Working Conditions:
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on DOJ’s current telework policy. While DOJ supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises.
Salary:
DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL SUPERVISOR: $12,818.00 – $17,211.00
New to State candidates in the DAG series will be hired at the starting “Hire Above Minimum” (HAM) salary of the classification: Deputy Attorney General Supervisor (8 years): $14,228 per month.
