Brenna Bird was elected Attorney General of Iowa on November 8, 2022.
Born and raised on an Iowa farm where she was homeschooled, Bird graduated from Drake University and went on to receive her J.D. at the University of Chicago.
Bird has served both as Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Advisor to Congressman Steve King, Representative of Iowa’s 5th House district. She later became counsel to Governor Terry Branstad, where she worked closely with Gov. Branstad and then-Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds to fight for Iowa’s farming practices.
Bird worked in private practice until 2018, when she was elected County Attorney for Guthrie County.
She lives on the family farm in rural Dexter with her husband, Bob, an Iraq war veteran, and their son.
