Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join her team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General’s Trial Division within the Government Bureau.

 

Position Type:  Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.

 

Salary:  $87,500 – $130,595, commensurate with JD year.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General will represent and defend the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its agencies, and employees in a wide variety of civil lawsuits, including tort, contract, erroneous convictions, eminent domain, employment, and civil rights cases. The Assistant Attorney General will maintain an active caseload, including assuming responsibility for drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, and trying cases in the superior and federal courts.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
  • At least five (5) years of civil litigation experience, including experience in at least one of the following substantive areas is preferred: tort, contracts, land use, eminent domain, civil rights, or employment litigation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing a large and varied caseload, preferred.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation or have a valid driver’s license, as travel may be required to various courts, client, opposing party locations, and law offices. (Pool cars available for work use.)
